Kerr-Smith Homes & Land, Inc.

Born and raised in Raleigh, Kerr Cvetko was interested in new home construction as early as his high school years, feeling lucky that he could spend his summers learning tricks of the trade as he worked side by side with area builders. Kerr’s passion for building was supported and influenced by his grandfather, pharmacist and industry leader Banks Kerr, the founder of Kerr Drug Stores who went on to become a highly-respected real estate magnate.

The elder Kerr encouraged his grandson to obtain a business degree, which he did from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, while simultaneously running a small but successful residential remodeling and boat dock building business. After graduating and working for several years in Wilmington, Kerr moved back to Raleigh. In 1999 he established Kerr-Smith Homes & Land, a company dedicated to building high-quality custom homes and developing high-quality neighborhoods.

From the beginning, Kerr’s primary goal was to build superior homes. Based on his company’s sales and the judging results of his Parade of Homes entries, he has been extremely successful in meeting this goal. Over the last six years, Kerr has entered 19 homes in the annual Parade of Homes sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County and Johnston County. Not only have 18 of these homes been recognized with Parade of Homes awards, but parade judges have awarded “Perfect Scores” to nine Kerr-Smith Parade homes! In 2003 Kerr-Smith Homes & Land was honored as the recipient of the coveted “Best of the Best” award for the home considered the very best of all the entries in the Johnston County Parade of Homes.

Of course we love getting these awards,” says Kerr. “But what we really love is making home buyers happy. That’s what my team finds most rewarding.”
